The Orzters
In 2012 I volunteered for the NRSB (Nottingham Royal Society for the Blind) now renamed my sight Nottinghamshire. They were looking for someone to help design sets for their Annual Variety Show. As it turned out, their theme was the Oscars, which was pretty convenient considering my old school had just put on a panto set in Hollywood. That saved me time having to design the background scenery as I was able to donate ours. I met some great people, who were incredibly talented and funny. I learnt how to guide and got the chance to work backstage in the old Arts theatre!

Govan Art Group
In February, a friend and I decided to set up an art group with a charity called Key which support adults with disabilities in every aspect of life. Our Art Class currently has 6/7 regular people coming every week who enjoy being creative and trying new things. Our group so far enjoys being individual as they draw images from “wee dogs” to flowers to Elvis Presley. It is very much a therapeutic, relaxed environment where they can take pride in their own work and feel encouraged by the support of others. They are a very talented group so we hope to one-day show off a range of their work through the possibility of small local exhibitions.
